How we gather data, model calculations, and publish live index values.
1. Agronomic Formulas
Our crop calculators utilize industry-standard mathematical models:
- Planting Population: Calculated using spatial spacing against the standard 43,560 sq ft per acre coordinate.
- Seed Rate (TKW): Calibrated based on target plant population count, Thousand Kernel Weight (grams), and standard germination percentages.
- Soil Fertility: Ingests regional yield coefficients and deducts organic matter crop release credits.
2. Live AgIndexes™ Sourcing
Our indexes (Fertilizer Price Index, Machinery Cost Index, Crop Margin Index, Diesel Cost Tracker) are compiled by aggregating retail terminal quotes, wholesale commodity settlements, and regional fuel averages. Prices are updated daily at 17:00 UTC and weighted to match North American production ratios.
3. Net Present Value (NPV) Models
Our equipment Buy vs Lease calculations utilize standard corporate finance Net Present Value models. By applying the owner's customized discount/interest rate, we compare the present value of lease installments against the upfront capital purchase costs, accounting for depreciation offsets and end-of-cycle residual values.
